ABOUT ESPERANZA! A WOMAN'S HOPE
Helping Battered Women: Career Success through Job Skills Upgrade
Esperanza! A Woman's Hope, Inc. is a designated 501(c)(3) public charity within the state of Georgia. This community-based, multi-cultural outreach seeks to empower survivors of domestic violence (i.e.: spousal/partner violence) by providing scholarships for job skills upgrade to battered women in transition within the State of Georgia. Assistance is offered to survivors enrolled (or planning to enroll) at accredited vo-tech schools and community colleges, including four-year colleges and universities within the State.
Esperanza! A Woman's Hope has been developed by its founder, Phyllis Walker, in response to her personal experiences and her activities associated with domestic violence awareness and prevention, including the ensuing stories of women who have found themselves battered, in shelters, handicapped, and sometimes incarcerated as a result of their victimhood and abuse.
Phyllis interrupted her academic studies as a result of domestic violence that impacted her life as a young married college student, but later completed her college degree. Having worked in broadcast media, she created a photography business following eye surgery to prevent rapid and irreversible blindness from a detached retina. Empathetic to the financial struggles facing women who leave their abusers, Phyllis established Esperanza! A Woman's Hope, a 501(c)(3) educational and charitable non-profit organization to empower survivors moving forward with their lives.
A transformational speaker, Phyllis is focused on inspiring women from diverse cultures and walks of life to transcend their personal adversities as they flourish spiritually, emotionally, and financially along their paths. Her topics specific to Self-Empowerment, Resilience, Triumph Over Adversity, Mastering Your Mind, and the Healing Power of Art are available as trainings and workshops at national and international conferences and will empower women to envision a positive future for success.
In particular response to the needs of women residing in rural and coastal areas of Georgia (including Georgia's emerging Hispanic population) Esperanza! A Woman's Hope focuses on empowering women in transition who are ready to soar!
