"THERE ARE NO RULES IN FASHION"
https://animoto.com/play/tjNoo3I3DybKeG6iC07cDg

Sparkle Terry has contributed two short video fashion blogs for Esperanza! A Woman's Hope. Sparkle has recently learned to create video slide-shows by using a free program called Animoto at www.animoto.com.  Sparkle's philosophy is that we all need to feel comfortable with our bodies and our selves. There are no set rules to fashion.  Dismiss the stereotypes! We need to express ourselves and choose what works for us!

Just wanted to share that Barnes & Noble is hosting a Book Fair for Esperanza! A Woman's Hope which will run from Friday, October 24th, through Sunday, October 26th in support of Educational Needs for Abused Women and Children.

If you'd like to support us through purchasing books or related items, you have several options:  You can attend our event at the Barnes & Noble Morrow, GA store, located near South Lake Mall in Metro-Atlanta. You can visit and shop Barnes & Noble Book Stores throughout your communities, nationwide. Or, you can browse and shop Barnes & Noble on-line.  BTW: On-Line shopping for this event has been extended through October 31st (but for on-line, only).

Just click and download the flyer on this page and either present the voucher(s) to the cashier when you make a purchase, or key in the voucher number when purchasing on-line: The vouchers associate your purchase with Esperanza! A Woman's Hope.  And, if you just happen to be in the area, come on by, introduce yourself, say "Hello", and visit!

How This Event Works:  Just so you'll know, at the end of the Book Fair, Esperanza! A Woman's Hope will receive a percentage from the sales of books and related items purchased from Barnes & Noble.  The funds will help survivors of domestic violence who are returning to school for job skills upgrade.  Also, books suitable for children Pre-K to Teens will be dropped off at area shelters.

So!  If you'd like to lend and hand and help support us through this Event, we invite you to come along!

Reflections on "No Woman Should Suffer Abuse..."

No Woman Should Suffer Abuse!
The Above Image prompted me to create the Below Video, which I've titled "No Woman Should Suffer Abuse! No Child Should Live in Fear!"  (Following a compelling image of a mother walking away with her child that totally stole my heart!)  Can you begin to imagine the number of women and children in this country who live in fear and abuse?  Some in their homes... Some in shacks... Some in shelters... Others totally Homeless and Squatting in Cardboard "Make-Do's" under bridges... Or holding signs alongside their children in shopping center parking lots, exhausted and pleading for aid.
PictureNo Child Should Live In Fear
What does it require to reach out?  What can You do, in your own miniscule-to-magnanimous way, to help abused women and their children?  Take time to reflect.  Then make a decision and commit.  What ever you do, Do Something!  Please!

The below video has been created to honor survivors of domestic violence and their children, in their search for Safe, Secure, Enriched Lives. It takes Courage to Abandon the Past and Create a Positive Present amidst uncertainty, while Journeying toward a Successful Future!

ESCAPING THE CYCLE OF ABUSE

The Courage to Stay, Or the Courage to Leave?

abusive relationships, abused women, cycle of abuseEnd the Violence, Now!
A special friend and  Survivor, named Monica, recently posted this image on her social media page.  Monica is among the  most courageous and generous women I know. We initially became acquainted during a professional networking event.

A loving mother and competent business woman, Monica unselfishly extends herself to those in need.  She understands the control and fear associated with Domestic Violence.  And she knows it takes Guts to leave!

Many women remain with their abusers in fear (real fear) of the consequences - both for themselves and their children. Their lives can be endangered all the more once they leave.

Whether choosing to remain or creating a safe strategy to leave, it takes Courage. The Courage to Leave can bring great Freedom.  Opt for the Plan!  Build a Future!  End the Violence, Now!

Gap Between Rich and Poor Widening
Choose Your Career and Your State of Residence Wisely

https://homes.yahoo.com/blogs/spaces/income-inequality--america-s-worst-states-214549684.html

The United States has a greater gap between rich and poor than any other advanced nation. President Obama has called it "the defining challenge of our time."

The above link leads to an informative article, including a color-coded map of the US depicting the greatest economic disparity between states. Those in the South rank higher.

When selecting career paths in sectors indicating positive economic outlooks,  consider your state of residence and prepare to relocate.

A Happy Ending with a Celebration!
Finding a New Life After an Abusive Marriage and a Prison Sentence:

October is DV Awareness month. Being a survivor with a non-profit organization that helps survivors, I want to post as much supportive information as possible in order to create awareness and help others who may be experiencing physical battering and emotional abuse. This also includes co-workers, friends, and family members.  This video is from an 08/08/14 Story Corp segment that aired on my local NPR station, this summer.  A word of Admonition:  DON'T let battered wife stress syndrome drive you to this!  Seek Help and Find A Plan. PLEASE!
