The concept for Esperanza! A Woman's Hope, has been developed by its founder, an empowered survivor of domestic violence, in response to her personal experiences, her volunteerism, and the ensuing stories of women who have found themselves battered, in shelters, and sometimes incarcerated as a result of their victimhood and abuse.
In particular response to the needs of women residing in rural and coastal areas of Georgia (including Georgia's emerging Hispanic population) the Esperanza! A Woman's Hope project has been created with the intent of empowering women in transition, who are seeking assistance for tuition, text books, supplies, and related expenses (i.e.: transportation, gasoline, and child care costs during course work) leading to job skills upgrade.
Through this project, supplementary funding would be available for survivors in transition who are enrolled in accredited, state-funded vo-tech schools, community colleges, and universities throughout the state of Georgia.
This assistance will be offered in the belief that job skills upgrade, combined with dedicated mentoring and support, directly leads to improved career opportunities, which in turn foster financial stability and economic autonomy for survivors of domestic violence (i.e.: spousal/partner violence) and their children.
Guidelines for the inception of a state-wide, community-based pilot program to assist survivors of domestic violence are outlined within these pages. One-hundred percent of funds contributed to this project will be applied to selected recipients in need.
